MTN Mobile Money Integration
Allios integrates with MTN MoMo API to allow tenants to collect payments, disburse funds, and check account balances directly from within their business applications. We follow MTN’s Open API guidelines and comply with their privacy & terms of service.
What Allios can do with MTN MoMo
- Collect customer payments (e.g. school fees, invoices, POS transactions).
- Disburse funds to individuals, groups, or vendors securely.
- Query account balances and transaction status for real-time reconciliation.
- Automate subscription billing and tenant-level reporting dashboards.
Authentication & APIs
MTN MoMo uses OAuth2 client credentials and we implement this securely. The main endpoints are:
/collection– Initiate and manage customer payments./disbursement– Send payments to mobile wallets./remittance– International and cross-border transfers./account/balance– Check balances in real-time.

Payment Flow
- User initiates a payment request from Allios (e.g., pay invoice).
- Allios creates a transaction request with MTN MoMo API.
- User approves on their mobile handset (USSD/SMS prompt).
- MTN MoMo confirms the transaction and Allios updates tenant records.
Security & Data Handling
- All credentials and tokens are encrypted and never stored in plain text.
- Transactions use HTTPS and signed requests to MTN’s gateway.
- Allios does not store sensitive user PINs or handset data.
- Transaction data is retained only for regulatory and tenant reporting purposes.
User & Tenant Controls
Tenants can:
- Enable or disable MoMo integration per application.
- Set up collection vs disbursement permissions separately.
- View detailed transaction logs and reconcile payments.
- Request disconnection or deletion of stored MoMo API credentials at any time.
